Apparently I have a green thumb. A few weeks ago, Tim and I planted an herb garden. We planted basil, dill, fennel, parsley, oregano, thyme, rosemary, sage, and marjoram. The herbs grew and grew, it was really a Jack the Beanstalk moment. I was amazed, our basil now stands over two feet tall!! We've enjoyed our burgeoning herbs and have made pesto with crab meat and artichoke and dill pizza, creamy herbed eggs, smashed peas linguine with herbs, sausage risotto with herbs, and brown butter sage pasta to name a few. It's a great way to eat fresh and keep your meal costs down too! The smashed peas linguine lasted 4 meals at $4 total ($1/meal!!) What I've enjoyed the most is making basil pesto for friends. I recently bottled it and gave it as a gift (picture below) along with a simple recipe attached. I never thought herbs would make me giddy with delight, but what do you expect when you grow older? Weeds of a different element I suppose.
